Comes from Mercedes and expects Mercedes production capabilities. Deja vu.

Racer claims the nosebox has yet to pass the crash test.
The Race, on the other hand, report that the chassis is ready and "has passed everything required". They cannot confirm the specific issue(s) that delayed/are delaying their programme, but say it's not "a result of a supplier or production issue".

Vowles got a lot of credit for a car his predecessor designed, granted last year was a blessing. Despite significant money pouring in last the 3 years, all that promised of focus on 2026, we are so back to 2019.

Basically Williams will be the 4th fastest Merc powered car, Alpine have hit weight limit supposedly. So it's now between Cadillac, Audi and Williams for the back of grid. So much for 3 year plans.

Nah Williams might come good yet. Its not all over. I think they'll be miles ahead of all the teams mentioned above. But they'll take some stick for the time being and why not,its a massive f up.

What might cause the delay:
The way I heard it was the engine mounting posts were offset and when they tightened the bolts up it cracked the head. No idea how you fix the chassis if that’s the case.

Poor design and even worse assembly, if that's the case. I'm mechanic, and I would never tighten a bolt until the mating surfaces really are fitted, and if something feels slightly weird, I would more than double check it.

Let alone if working on a bespoke carbon fiber monocoque. :?

If this is true, it's peak embarassment.

What was Williams doing all this time during development to be in this situation? Unless they have a highly innovative design that sets them apart from the other teams, there's no way to justify this other than the team's total incompetence.

Missing the first test in a new ruleset is a worst case situation. If this is only half true, they need to be really good in their design to compensate partially for that.

If Williams is not ahead of Alpine, Audi, Cadillac in the early flyaway races, someone needs to be fired. The Q is whether that someone is Vowles or Matt Harman. Might as well replace the TD early in the rule set where changes can be made. They might rue not getting Dan Fallows when he was available

- Audi as an engine that can’t run and will be very far
- Cadillac same for chassis

No one will be slower than those two

But I believe alpine will be ahead of Williams. Don’t know about Haas or Racing bull
