Bond was pretty much a free entity, operated independently, solving a mission by improvision and his special license - he was a field agent -- expected to yield results without the need of data or direction. He saved ..............................................................
communication for arch sarcastic conversations with the villians -- and smiling, suggestive comments for the most beautiful women of the world -- you must understand -- you were not born then, and gracing the world with your prescence ( and Tomba's companionship-- of course  )

Regards Carlos

His appeal -- besides elegant British tailoring and the finest, fastest English sportscars -- was that he saved the world from disaster-- singlehandedly

In those days -- Bond was also limited to DOHC engines with just 2 valves per cylinder, skinny Dunlops on Wire-spoke wheels -- no active suspension -- unimaginable!

Pricipessa -- for details of spycraft -- red John le Carre --not such a glamous hero -- a small man , middleage and a little overweigth-- driving cheap British sedans -- and of course my other comments are really compliments to Tomba -- what a very fortunate man -- and of course, it is so kind of you both to work so hard on F1technical and provide us with an avenue of camraderie to discuss F1 and all things automotive.

Casino Royale - Excellent Movie: Dissapointing Bond movie.

As truely fantastic as the movie was, I wasn't prepared for just HOW DIFFERNT it really was to the usual bond movie, how much it strayed from a formula that works.

I knew it would be different (The book is Bond's first outing as 007, this is the making of the James Bind we know etc etc etc) but it was SO different. I left scratching my head wondering "Did I really just watch a BIND movie?!" I have a sneeking suspision that they only used the "Bond Theme" at the end just to remind the audience that Yes you've just watched James Bond 007. lol

But it was a fantastic movie. (Not as good as Goldfinger though  ) oh and as for Daniel Craig - superb, still not as good as Sean Connery though lol  .

I thought it was a typical Bond movie. You have to keep in mind though that it's of course the first book!
I really saw Casino Royale as a regular Bond movie! Action, British humour, beautiful cars, some gadgets,.... and of course all the Bondgirls!

At the end of 2007 they are planning to start filming a new Bond movie

Typical Bond movie? This Bond was on speed or something! I've never seen such a fast, powerful, and agile Bond.
It was a good movie but he lacked some class and reserve. He was more a hotshot, less a gentleman. He seemed more like one of 007's expendable sidekicks that you would see in the Bonds of yore, 009 or 006 or something vs the real Bond. Craig did a good job but I thought the movie lacked something.
