Casino Royale - James Bond

Post

Hi all,
we yesterday went to see Casino Royale, the newest James Bond film, and I must admit after hearing positive comments that I'm stunned by it. The movie it a continues flow of action and sometimes strange turnarounds, I really liked it.

Although I kind of miss Q and Moneypenny, they weren't present in the original book of Ian Fleming, so I can live with it. Daniel Craig really is a worthy bond, the steel blue eyes and characteristic face make for a very good James Bond.
Apart from that, the title song (Chris Cornell - You know my name) is as stunning as the movie according to my humble opinion ;)

What did you guys think of it?

ps: Is there anyone who would like to give me an Aston Martin DBS for Christmas :?:

I liked it very much as well, one of the best Bond-movies I've seen (though I haven't seen them all    )

I loved the movie, loved the soundtrack and .... Daniel Craig looked very good too  !

PS: I would love to give it to you Tomba, you know that, but first I will have to win Euromillions :P

I was great fan of JB movies but stopped watching when Roger Moore retired.

I saw it in the previews, so when I saw the movie yesterday, I closed my eyes...

btw, some of the most beautiful countryside I've ever seen, unlike the girls (with the exception of a short 3 sec. clip of Alessandra Ambrosio)

I'm still puzzled how Vesper and Bond were rolling around on the hospital bed a day or two after he was tortured (which made me cringe.)

All in all it was an awesome movie. The opening scene (after the credits) was really cool and the whole movie had a lot of action in it. I was a bit dissappointed on how little car chase there was, though.

Bond was lucky that the other man walked in and killed Le Chiffre, otherwise it would be over with taking girls to bed after knowing them for 2 minutes :P

I thought it was good, but not one of the best. I loved the free running bit, but I read the book first and it was impossibble not to keep tearing holes in it. The book is far better, Moneypenny was in it btw.

In the book I think it was a Bentley Continental GT, supercharged, that was written off which would have been far worse to watch, incidentally that car does keep popping up in the film.

Did anyone else notice almost every car was a product of Ford Motor Co?

Same with the last one.

Halle Berry drove the Ford Thunderbird, James drove the Aston Martin, while the bad guy drove the Jag. All Ford products.

Well I loved the movie and I think that Craig is one of the best bonds ever right up there with Sean Connery. However I was very unhappy with the miniscule use of gadgets and technology, something which I always look forward to in a Bond movie

Hi Tom, I didn't read the book and Tomba didn't either, but I was wondering something, that since we both didn't read the book I still want to know. In the movie, Bond is tracking down where a text message came from and than at the end of the movie, we see that he takes the cell phone of Vesper and sees a text message. How is that in the book as obviously there weren't cell phones and text messages when the first book was written?

Has the DBS a Lotus chassis? Previous Aston Martins had Lotus aluminum chassis reinforced to receive a V12 engine, but I can’t find out if this is the case of the DBS as well.

Thanks!

Principessa I read the Bond series as a child in the 1960's; and you are right-- there were no cellphones or text messaging then --- Bond has been made contemporary in many respects -- we are gifted with so many marvels today; of course -- including you. (Tomba too!)

But what did they use than? Instead of the text messages we've seen in the movie? They used notes....or what? :?
