Finally: is the immortal Giuseppe Farina, Silverstone, 1950. He did 1:50.6 in the second lap. Fangio missed it by a week, damn.

How interesting and original are the disqualifying comments about other drivers in this thread... not. 8)

Can I share something? Once a teacher came into our class, poked the head through the door and said: "Hey, you guys, who are your heroes? A person without heroes is nothing."

Oh my, I didn't realise how dominant MS was! (only watched F1 a wee(small) bit when MS started breaking records)

Also, from these records, the current crop of F1 drivers are a record breaking bunch. Youngest drivers, youngest win, fewest races before first win etc. It's amazing!

From the current lot Kimi and Alonso are rated rather highly as well.

Thanks for the wiki link Ciro =D>

Edit: This record is a good one from Vettel - Shortest time elapsed ebfore receiving a penalty - 6 seconds. Speeding in the pit lane at the 2007 US GP.
That needs some kind of medal!

Hamilton has 7 doubles and 2 hatricks in his first 2 years. Not bad for a start.

But does a hatrick speak to the kind of equipment a driver has?
maybe a less superior car may not get the quickest lap but with the right driver it can win.
For Sure!!
