When they were precautious with the setup in Austin, their car turned out to be 5 mm too high, by the way, equalling 0.25s per lap. I hadn't seen those numbers before.

I think AMUS analysis is interesting, but it doesn't always work like this. Mclarens experienced porpoising in Las Vegas but it's also something that I noticed in COTA. Mclarens bouncing like mad into T1 while Verstappen looked like he was riding in an S-class. So if Mclaren had lowered the car in COTA, it's possible they would have hit this roadblock again and had to leave the car raised anyway. COTA has bumps like Las Vegas which tend to initiate the porpoising. Its a track where others have previously been disqualified for plank wear.

The McLarens were porpoising during the Miami race too on the back straights. It's because their suspension is less stiff. It makes the chassis much more compliant over kerbs and in slippery conditions. But it will inevitably lead to porpoising once the car starts bottoming out. However, I don't buy that the porpoising caused damage that caused the skid block to wear out more. They just simply got too greedy with the ride height and paid the price.

Spicy....P2 now equal points for Ver and Pia.
P4 and P5 are taken, but we see Ant with his third podium now in the hunt for Ham.
Top10 now nice fight between Hulk, Sai and Had.

Whatever fan you are...could it be better at the end of the season?
Unless something catastrophic happens, Norris has basically already won the WDC. Piastri was the only chance to make anything exciting, and he seems to be nowhere mentally after seemingly losing faith in the team to do right by him.

So no, I dont think it's all that exciting. Just waiting for the season to finish at this point, and I think Norris will be one of the most underwhelming WDC's in a long time. He's been straight embarrassed by Verstappen so many times this season.
Max can take p2 from Piastri easy the way he has been performing so for him it will be a bit of a mental blow , what happened and where it went wrong. The whole season Piastri has always come into the weekend needing alot of time to get the best out of the car , with the sprint weekends you don't get that time and you must perform after one training session.
Sure I think #2 in the championship is on the cards for Max. But I dont think Max will feel all too invigorated by any such 'runner up' victory. lol Even if it is still a big achievement by any contextual standard.

Is the plank material itself free apart from a requirements having a specific density range? That's all I see regulated.
So why not just make a diamond based composite and forget about it? It won't have any significant wear no mater what.

Aye, it doesn’t appear to be a spec part but all the teams use the same supplier. Is it some sort of gentleman’s agreement?

As Ross Brawn said, there are no gentlemen in the F1 paddock. So I guess no-one saw enough gains to justify developments in this area.
