oops !!! what a knob I was to call it 'knee jerk'. Sorry, @Vettel165. That said, 1.2+ deficit is looking real in race trim.venkyhere wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025, 16:40Don't knee-jerk so muchVettel165 wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025, 16:33Season over, Piastri WDC confirmed. Max has no chance, it was a miracle he won last year. Only because his driving was amazing. And it was the same when he won last weekend. On this circuit even a podium would be very hard. Mclaren are dominant. Game over lads. But nothing lasts forever, we had a good run of 4 years. Hope somebody proves me wrong, but I doubt it.
Will just relax and take it easy this season as a Max fan. But the gap in FP3 was more then a full second on low fuel.![]()
That 1.2+ advantage of Piastri over the grid is because McLaren had turned up the wick to Q engine mode. Norris, however poorly he drives, isn't going to be 0.2s per sector behind Piastri - that leads me to believe Piastri simply went full engine mode OR it was a purely-by-chance perfect tyre prep for the given track temp.
1+ is the kind of advantage I expect in R trim, not Q trim.
No problem buddy. We really need to fix this tyre thing. On circuit with high-deg we are nowhere, but soon as this isnt a factor we are back on pace.venkyhere wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025, 20:29oops !!! what a knob I was to call it 'knee jerk'. Sorry, @Vettel165. Car is really poor, understeering, heating up the softs and no brakes is the cherry on the cake.
Hope all the understeer helps rear tyre preservation without too much laptime loss on the M and H compounds tomorrow - it's all about damage limitation. Max will do well to finish P6 tomorrow, behind the McLarens, the Mercs and LeClerc. Will have to keep atleast Hamilton behind, to call it a damage limitation. However, starting from 4th row is 'par' for the course for this RB21. Tsunoda is sure to drop out of the points.
bad parts..."Let's start positively," Marko told Sky DE. "Tsunoda finished in the top ten, but Max was not satisfied. He had some problems in Q2 and huge brake problems in Q3. You could see that in the data. So far, we have no explanation for it."
...... First, we need to find out what is causing the brake problem. Then we have to discuss with the FIA whether you can adjust, grind off or install the brake pads."
It's fine. Damage control until Imola. This is round 4. 1 point we're behind Norris and he's what? 6th? I mentioned the brake thing as it gives better chances since they can see an issue, and could attempt to make it better. They aren't going to win, but maybe P3/P4/P5. I really think the brake issue cost a 2nd row start. Leclerc and Antonelli were no better than the Alpine. Max was only 2-3 tenths away with a very conservative lap.organic wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025, 21:50It's fine. Damage control until Imola. This is round 4. 1 point we're behind Norris and he's what? 6th? If it goes well P3AR3-GP wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025, 21:54I mentioned the brake thing as it gives better chances since they can see an issue, and could attempt to make it better. https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/for ... ualifying/AUTO MOTOR UND SPORT - What was wrong with the brake [for Verstappen]?
After the qualifying session, the engineers immediately put their heads together to solve the strange problem. It had never occurred in the first three races.
"We had it to some extent on Friday," Christian Horner said. There were two theories. One of them: It was due to the disc material. Red Bull had switched from Hitco to Brembo over the winter.
But that was considered rather unlikely. It made more sense that something went wrong with the brake adjustment. It is individually adjusted for the driver. It's about how the braking force builds up when pressing the pedal and then distributes from front to back.
That would match Verstappen's statement that he lost the feeling when braking.
Marko resident is sure that with an intact car, his superstar could have made it to the second starting row. He hasn't given up hope yet. "If it gets cool again in the evening and the wind picks up, there might still be a surprise." Provided that Verstappen's brakes work again.
redbull changed to brembo last year .Max had brake fire in Australia i thought in was related to lack of experience with that manufactureAR3-GP wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025, 22:13https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/for ... ualifying/AUTO MOTOR UND SPORT - What was wrong with the brake [for Verstappen]?

It was always close between Red Bull, Mercedes, and to some extent Ferrari. There's no margin for not having the car working properly so that is why they are P7 instead of better.
