There is no way UK, and most other countries are going to get anywhere close to targets without nuclear generation. We should have bitten the bullet and got on with it 20 years ago, if not 40Tommy Cookers wrote: ↑30 Sep 2021, 16:16this week (in the UK) it's all happening ....
gas (ie for home heating) companies are failing as their buying price became ten times their contracted selling price
in part as renewable electricity availability has fallen with little wind or sun (so demanding more gas for generation)
can't people understand that more renewables means more fossil-fuelled generation due to intermittency ?
can't people understand that 71 million people need more electricity than the 66 million that were planned for ?
a 1% shortfall in delivery of car fuel (due to easing of overseas vacations eg taken by tanker drivers) caused ....
an ongoing collapse in car fuel availability due to rumour-driven panic buying by car drivers
there's 6 million EU citizens with permanent UK residential rights - but we don't know how many have truck licences
a big onshore oil/gas find has been denied development permission (by the usual actions of the usual suspects)
and ....
our Prime Minister Johnson (ahead of COP 26) at the UN can't get any interest from the big-polluter countries ....
only from Bangladesh (though contrary to the lying whiners it won't have a problem if sea levels rise - it will rise too)
How is that? If renewables didn´t exist, that increase in fossil fueled energy wouldn´t be intermitent, but permanent.Tommy Cookers wrote: ↑30 Sep 2021, 16:16can't people understand that more renewables means more fossil-fuelled generation due to intermittency ?
