1) Alonso was faster than Russell in the first stint. Interesting...
2) Was there any explanation for the front brake fire after the first pitstop? Did they change parts here with the upgrades? I wonder if that had impact on the rest of the race.
3) It's the first race with upgrades and they only had Lance's feedback on Friday. They will continue to optimize the setups around the new parts with Alonso .

I watched the whole race from Alonso's onboard and the brakes where barely mentioned and the fire never mentioned.

The data show that P5 in qualifying was the highest outcome indeed, as Aston Martin still has problems with low speed corners (-13Kh/h vs McL and -10Km/H vs Russel in P4):

Minimum corner speed ALO: 91Km/h vs PIA 104Km/h vs RUS 101Km/h

On a track with less slow corners they should be way more competitive.

Fingers crossed for Monaco, the king of slow corners....

thats not a car characteristic. thats alonsos driving style. but watching the onboard during the race, i still think the car is a bit stiff when riding curbs

There is some of that, but it's too much of a difference to be just driving style

I would prefer to be cautious going to Monaco just in case. Anything better will be a nice surprise, but we don't know yet.
