I think it is important to recognize that Mercedes don't just have a stronger engine, but 30 HP over Ferrari right now. Renault cried about a 15 HP deficit for the last reg set.

On a power track like this, even keeping in touch with McLaren and Mercedes is an incredible result. The chassis and aero departments deserve a raise.
i think we need to take that 30 HP deficit claim with a pinch of salt, we truly don't know it could be less, but i guess when they get that engine upgrade ticket we will know..
I trust AutoRacer with 99% of Ferrari information to be completely honest with you. The gap on the straights seems pretty indicative

Lol...as always ferrari promise big and deliver nothing. The only person saving some sort of dignity for the team is Charles...and the number 2 driver doing what the number 2 driver usually does...nothing. absolutely disgusting.
Are you even serious bro. They went from being 0.6 down on Merc to being on par. That is a 0.6s chassis upgrade at once, no question. Not quite "nothing". If McLaren does better, props to them.

Not to mention the fact that McLaren has more development freedom due to their massive engine power advantage over Ferrari. Not to mention that a lot of their gains could conceivably be from learning to use the higher potential of their engine more effectively.

Could be in the lead at the end of the first lap with a good start

Ferrari built a gearbox-differential assembly to be able to use the FTM.
The FIA removed the 60mm constraint from the rear axle, and now everyone has the FTM.

Leclerc said they anticipated more today, the feeling of the car changed a lot since yesterday and they're still looking into why things aren't performing as expected

Overdriving because there was no more pace in the car. It’s just worse in quali trim.

Kimi and Max both generally have bad starts, so this is a bit different from the sprint since the McLaren’s gearing choices help them off the line. I think if Charles is running 2nd or better then we have a chance - it seems overtaking is pretty tricky at this track with the new reg changes, so track position is everything.

From the context, I’m guessing FTM is to do with the exhaust singlet? What does FTM stand for? And can you link to this rules change - I haven’t read anything about it.

A well-known Italian website is discussing the FIA liberalizing FTM.

I don't speak Italian, so I can't understand.

But it seems a bit unfair put like that, doesn't it?
Can you please link this article?
