McLaren from this photo, it appears that McLaren is using a laser mapping system to adjust, control and analyze the driver's position inside the cockpit.
It looks like a fix-point solution, similar to that used for the analysis of the biomechanical position in cycling. In this case, the use of this analysis could be used to:
Seat positioning and adjustment,
visibility,
position of mirrors,
convenience / comfort.
The theory is to recreate a sort of laser map around the rider and helmet such as to be able to analyze even the head / arms movements.
Furthermore, if you look carefully at the checkpoints let's call them that, they continue along the lower area of the AirScope, a sign that perhaps this analysis can also be used for something else, perhaps for a 3D mapping of the flow analysis? It is also possible because modern body scanning and 3D scanning techniques are evolving, guaranteeing and allowing the possibility of acquiring more and more precise information and positions.
