"The surface of the track that runs around the stadium is very smooth, exposing the tyres to moderate longitudinal and lateral forces. Thermal degradation will be a major factor, as temperatures are expected to be very high, given that last year’s track temperature exceeded 55 °C."

Surely a two-stopper or maybe even a three stopper depending on the tires. Are the C3's this year so far good?
Call a spade, a spade.

Mclaren's rear wing seems very small for this track.

Daddy Max arrived yesterday evening 7:50 PM local time at Miami Airport.
After a good night of sleep he can attend FP1, the only FP this weekend.

Obvs it’s cheaper to run a race in the back of a car park than it is to run a race through the streets of the numerous cities we go to…

Track is much quicker this year. Piastri's time today is quicker than last year's pole.

The track is bad but F1 and the teams seem determined to make this a signature event, with off track festivities, celebrities, special liveries...
It just makes me cringe.

My transition to bitter old dude is complete.

This thing with this circuit is that the owner of the stadium is worth a ton of money and he's not shy about spending it on these "events". As long as the race at least breaks even for him, he'll spend money on improving the circuit... widening the streets, altering a bit of the layout, resurfacing, whatever it takes. If I'm not mistaken, the only public road that is in use now is the long straight between turns 16 and 17.

I'm curious to see how it evolves over the next few years.

I forgot that the tires are 1 step softer this year, so that could explain the laptime improvement of FP1? Last year's pole was on this year's medium tire.
