Haas VF-26

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Very different airbox treatment to the Ferrari. Much larger intake. Sidepod inlets are also huge though.

Seems like the Haas has a 4 element FWAS, not just two. Same for Ferrari (might be a shared actuator component). Two symmetrical pivot axis swept back, not a single longitudinal like we see on Merc and RB (render).

An unusual bend in the rear control arm (or track rod?)

Really look like a wing, clever solution.

Small odd detail on the diffuser strakes where the bottom edge is extended in a dog leg a little bit. Normally it’s the opposite where the edges are chamfered or saw toothed.

This new rear light gives some room for a air exit.

Is this a cooling exit? Is that legal?

During Day 3 there was quite a lot of vapour coming out of there. Oil breather?

The oil breather pipe is at the bottom of the crash structure. This would be something else.

That by regulation has to join the main exhaust quite far upstream.

Would the rear impact attenuator be hollow? If not, then we could rule out a cooling exit.
