He has no right to tell people who should and shouldn't go unless he's gone himself. He needs to shut his da*n mouth, and so does every other celebrity acting like they care about other people. He talks about a fighting class, is he in it? No. That's why he says what he does because he knows that he'll never have to sacrifice anything for this country. Idiot.
The man is a US citizen. Why shouldn't he have a say? The fact that he's more influential than a regular US citizen is not his fault.
All he said that it the US, collectively, makes a decision of going to war, that that responsibility should be shared by every American - including the president's daughters. What's wrong with this? I remember reading about Prince Alexander being a helicopter pilot (might be wrong on this) during the Falklands, and I now hear talks of Prince Harry going to Iraq. Why should Jenna get drunk...what is her life worth more than Princes? Forget that, is her life worth more than some private's? If so, why?

EDIT- MC's picture says it best. Keep in mind that that actor, at the age of 77, ran the most powerful nation in the world.
it's really funny guys!!! this thread is turning into a huge debate....
well, it's obvious that we all have different opinions, and that's pretty good, as if we were all thinking in the same way, then there would be no one thinking at all...
ok guys, let's end this subject, the guy (saddam) wasn't good, actually he was horrible, but on the other hand he is still a human.. a dead respected one....
on the other hand, it's the US era now, and it's gonna end sooner or later, same as any other big strong empires did before, such as the Greek, the Roman, the Frech, the English, and finally the American...
so guys, we are all friends here, whatever our nationality, religion, race... whatever, we all love f1, right??? can we close it now??? HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Manchild you make a point about Reagan. He was an elected official though. He was president so his opinion does count. Plus the man had very quick wit, and a whole lot of class too. Not to mention guts. Matt Damon has none of these. All I'm trying to say is Matt Damon has no place telling other people what their kids should and should not do. Not to mention you can't suggest someone do something you aren't going to do yourself. It's hypocritical. Should I tell someone they should jump off a bridge and not be willing to do it myself? No. And yes there are good people doing good things in Iraq. I was one of them. I've been there so I think I have a good reason to be upset about what people 'say' is fact regarding what is happening in Iraq.
That's my rant, I'm done. Allan is right. Let's not argue about this anymore. F1Technical is about racing, not politics. Let's get back to the other discussions. Can we?

We are obligated to help every single person and every single country that is in europe. We saved Europe with the help of a few other countries and we get the french telling US we are the bad guys? Well, this also has something to do with proximity factors. The US have military forces spread all over the world, so they can be close to the happenings. The Tsunami crisis happened in undeveloped countries, which lack adequate manpower and knowledge to deal with specific crisis and, in the end most of the (promised) support materialized on pay checks.
Like Dave tells, Canada has helped the US and I remember that Cuba offered some help from theirs world-renowned medical specialists and were turned down by the federal government...

Missed this bit before, on your point Ray, how did America help the people of New Orleans? It was well publicised that this was going to happen days before Katrina hit the city yet there was no government evacuation, people had to make their own way out without help and afterwards what action did the American military take to bring food and supplies to the flooded city? Many countries, charities and even the UN organised crucial aid to be sent to New Orleans, while Bush sat back, told everyone how sorry he was and went back to Iraq.

Iraq has oil. New Orleans had basically black people... we are talking about one of the most racist nations, remember.

i heared some words in arabic:
the guard to saddam : To hell with god's will, to hell...
one of the higher level politicain: Please brothers, don't say that, please....
Having in mind what he has done in the past hanging was a treat to him.
The guy used poisons to kill over 100.000 men, woman and children. No sorrow for him at all. Seeing hanging isn't nice and pleasant thing to do so I understand why people feel bad about it but that's dislike of hanging in general we're talking about not dislike of Saddam being hanged.
If people who feel sorry for him had seen each and every death of 100.000 innocent Kurds he killed in horrific way seeing him getting hanged wouldn't be raise any questions.
Do not click the link if you can't take disturbing photos!
u r right manchild....
i remember seeing those pics on tv, and yet, that photo only shows a small portion of his deeds...
he does deserve to burn in hell....
anyway, it's god's choice
One man finally brought to justice and held accountable for his terrible actions. It's a shame that those who provided the equipment and technology for him to make such horrific weapons will go unpunished.......
Katrina was not President Bushs fault. The whole situation with people not leaving was of their own choice, or they were to sick or old to leave. The ones who were too sick or old to leave have my sympathy, the ones who stayed claiming they had no way out don't. There is not a single person that was affected that was stuck in traffic that couldn't get out of their car and WALK. Or ride a bicycle, or anything other than sit in your car and feel sorry for yourself. I know if I was about to be hit with the worst hurricane in a long time, I wouldn't wait for no damn bus to pick me up. I'd be gone long before then.
Ray Nagin failed to take care of his people in time of crisis. He had buses, he had the superdome to put them in, he had a police force to guide traffic. Did he do ANY of these things? No. Kathleen Blanco didn't send in the Louisiana state police to help until it was too late. The whole process failed from top to bottom. Beginning with the local govt, the city govt, the county govt, the state govt, and the federal govt. It WAS NOT the failure of ONE man.
The biggest failure was Ray Nagin. He failed to be the first line of help for New Orleans, he had no evac plans and because of that, it was doomed from the beginning. Not only do I not sympathize with those who decided to ride it out, I don't sympathize with thieves. Yes, some went into stores and got what they needed, I have absolutely no problem with that, they have a family to take care of. But if you are out stealing TVs and clothes, you don't deserve sympathy for anything. Same goes for the guys who were SHOOTING at COAST GUARD helicopters. SHOOTING at someone trying to save them. I'd personally let the bastard drown, trying to kill someone saving you doesn't deserve a second chance with me.
Someone said something about the US military. Within 2 days of Katrina hitting Marines from my neck of the woods, Camp Pendelton, were on the scene helping out and giving food and medical help to anyone and everyone. So we were all over that from the beginning. We supported the Katrine recovery with almost 2500 Marines, so don't tell me who in the military was in Iraq instead of New Orleans. There were almost 3000 Guardsman helping out immediately after as well. So yeah, the military was there helping out.
This was not about race, if you buy into that crap let me ask you this. If Bush did it because "he doesn't care about black people", according to Kanye West (you see why I don't like celebrities?), why does he have Condi Rice on his staff as his National Security Advisor? Cause he hates her being black so much he wanted her there? As for the donations and care givings, no one I know who works down there has seen any of it. Not saying it never was mind you. They are all tearing the place down and fixing things by hand. So maybe it got lost somewhere along the way.
I would love to see how dumrick thinks that this is the most racist country in the world. We have more freedoms in this country than any other in the world. If you can't succeed here, it's not because you are white, black, blue or brown, it's because you didn't work hard enough. I'm fresh out of the Marine Corps and I'm not on welfare, I work for a living doing whatever I have to. And I sure as hell don't the finger at other people yelling discrimination when things don't work out for me.
The Best Buy I applied to not long ago had 2 white people working in the whole place, I didn't get hired. Even though I am more than qualified to be the manager, I couldn't be a stock boy. All I wanted was grunt work to do for a while till I got my resume done and polished. You don't see me crying discrimination and calling Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson do you? No, I found work elsewhere, I was too good for them anyway. HAD I been black, I could have cried foul and gotten the job. So in a way dumrick is right, the 'racism in this country is now reversed. Racism is now in the form of Affirmative Action. It is required by law that no matter who is better qualified for the job, the least represented race has to be hired. It's lunacy!
I have yet to see any proof of the US controlling oil rigs in Iraq. You guys say it's fact, lets see the proof. And before I go. Have ANY of you seen the Mississippi Gulf Coast? It's completely gone. Wiped out. Destroyed. Yet Kanye West isn't down there pleading for the people that lost EVERYTHING they own, not because of flood but because it doesn't EXIST anymore. So explain to me how those people aren't playing the race card and blaming Bush for it all. The Mississippi state govt got it head out of its ass and fixed the problem. Like Florida has for years and years when a Hurricane hits. Yeah they get help from the govt, but they also take precautionary measures beforehand unlike New Orleans. New Orleans was a perfect opportunity to get back at Bush. Ray Nagin let his people drown and Kathleen Blanco let down the state of Louisiana. Enough said.
