EDIT: by tire shenanigans i mean whole SET of vehicle dynamics. So aero-sim, mechanical setup, driver in loop systems...

There will be no competivnes. Lets be honest. Now is just time to set no deadlines and improvements will come naturally. But not 25, 26, not 27... Ferrari just need shut their mouth. Personally i think they lack hugely in some TOP simulation tools. Tire shenanigans are dragging all from 2017...
Finally i found someone more pessimistic than me.

Context: i was quite worried after testing and predicted a difficult season and many here were "against" me. Turned out it was much worse than i predicted sigh :(

His face during testing told me everything I needed to know

Obviously I tried to stay hopeful but when car was shite in Jeddah race all hope was lost for this season

All three years that are worse than 2023 are years when they were significantly down on power. Given this year the PU is arguably the best (or certainly very close), you could argue that this year is most disappointing.
When the team loses 60+ points with one driver and the other driver loses 50+ points in the races it's very hard to say the season is good, no matter how good or bas the car is. The total number of points lost in WCC in 2022 in this period is about the same, the sad thing is that only the PU reliabilty is improved - but the car went backwards a lot.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Problem is multifacid for sure. But here is inherently something wrong in processes. But u can't discover it internally. Many times u need new set of eyes. But those people will reportedly arrived about 2024. Due gardening leave etc

So u lose immediately 1 year.

Then after u find issue there is implementation or gradually testing phase. Also 1 year to see real results of changes. So quickly we are at 2025.

But sadly till then team should had all sorted out because this is CRUCIAL conceptual phase of new formula in 26.

Quite quickly u can screw up 2026, 2027 seasons. Domino effect.

Now compare that with stable engineering of Aston, Mercedes. All those just hire top engineers aldready. Sure the later lost some of them. But inherently their processes are quite set in stone. Arguably dropped the ball conceptually. But operationally on engineering level they are heathy and are recovering well.

Aston hired arguabbly most prominent stuf possible and are growing rapidly. It seems their processes are aldready set in motion.

So both teams are infront Ferrari in terms os stability of stuff and efficiency of engineering development.

Great photograph.

That interaction with Sanchez was also very telling...

He knew right away

I still can't tell if they are running the PU in "safe mode" to protect it

The reality is that Binotto Cardile and Sanchez in the last 5 years only made one car with good cornering performance: the F1 75 and only for half of the season.

First few races had some funny top speed figures, that looked like PU is turned down. However, it later became clear they changed the deployment strategy at most races. Right now they are the closest to RB on top speed at most tracks, so it's unlikely the PU is turned down.

They had teething problems early on but after that everything has been running solidly, with this perfect(knock on wood) reliability it would be crazy for them not to run the engine as intended.

The deficit is in the chassis/aero.

The only problems with engine are on Haas' side which is their own fault - down to procedures?

Maybe they have a different cooling system as well.
