Interesting... confirms the suspicions that it was less about Leclerc "losing it" and more about the setup of the car. In theory when the car is better, the Lec-Sai balance should shift again, though ideally they should aim for a car with a wide operating window that can satisfy both drivers.
I don't think anyone would argue with Leclerc or Verstappen there. Neither one should change their preference given their outright speed.
lol, I doubt just because 1 driver gets upgrades, makes them "1".
Of course. It's just for A/B testing in FP1.
Not once this year Ferrari has done this. Both drivers will get the new floor.AR3-GP wrote:lol, I doubt just because 1 driver gets upgrades, makes them "1".
Indeed. There's no doubt an advantage to getting to run the upgrades from the beginning of the weekend though.
Thank you for the clarification. I cannot imagine it would have been popular otherwise.
Yeah Leclerc being 3 tenths off Sainz with new floor not ideal, but you know with new floor in A/B running they aren't necessarily going to run it in its optimal performance window. Things like suspension, ride height will be dialed in properly in fp2 onwards I expect if both cars use the new component.
#Leclerc vs #Sainz in #FP1 : The gap is all on the straight and turn 1-2, then they are very similar in the turns. Carlos is faster and very "V-shaped", Charles is very "round" at 9 and at the hairpin. #JapaneseGP
