It was definitely more than that. The car was absolutely dog poop on hard tires the entire year. Like it straight up fell off a cliff the second you put any kind of harder compound tire on the car(relative to the track). It was so immensely frustrating watching the car constantly do ok in the first stint only to completely fall off later on.F1NAC wrote: ↑29 May 2025, 19:382011 car was garbage mostly because engine couldn’t do off throttle blowing as good as renault one. If it wasn’t for this gimmick, car would be solid.Waz wrote: ↑29 May 2025, 09:14Let's not derail too far, but nobody forced Schumacher out and that 2011 car was garbage. Alonso went from nearly winning a title to being lucky to win 1 race. Upgrades throughout 2010 were hit and miss as well and by season end they were behind Red Bull and McLaren.
Costa got lucky at Mercedes.
Funny though, my one and only time going and seeing an F1 race live was Silverstone 2011, where Ferrari had their singular win that year in that crazy rain-effected race where half the track was dry and half was wet at the start. That also happened to be during when they had banned blown diffusers there for a second. That was a fantastic weekend with a couple great GP2 races as well. Very fond memories of it.
