both drivers complain about it, Charles has mentioned a few times how hard the car is to drive because of the extreme setups they need to do and again complained about balance issues today

The more oversteery the car the further away from LEC he wasXyz22 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 19:24Sainz was driving a completely different car and his driving style was not like that.Luscion wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 19:16found this interesting - https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/hamil ... /10737775/
Hamilton also admitted that he's edging closer towards his team-mate's set-up. While he's not entirely comfortable with the levels of oversteer it produces, it seems to be bearing fruit.
"Set-up even closer to Charles, yeah," he said. "He drives a massively oversteering car. Somehow slides the rear, so it doesn't have degradation. When I slide the rear, I get massive degradation.
"It's definitely something I think you have to get used to. Supposedly, it took Carlos a couple of years to get used to. I don't want to do that."
Of course they are both dealing with the exact same shortcomings of the machine.
It seems it may not be the fastest way around anymore. Or was it ever? Verstappen no longer dominates f1. You have a car in the McLaren where a rookie can jump in in one day and is immediately on the pace of Piastri. So perhaps a neutral balance is best for this generation of cars in their current life cycles when this wasn’t true when they were first introduced.deadhead wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 20:15The more oversteery the car the further away from LEC he wasXyz22 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 19:24Sainz was driving a completely different car and his driving style was not like that.Luscion wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 19:16found this interesting - https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/hamil ... /10737775/
I suspect this is similar to what happens with VER’s teammates but to a lesser degree.

The McLaren has just much, much more downforce than the other cars and way less limitations.Hammerfist wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 21:26It seems it may not be the fastest way around anymore. Or was it ever? My feeling is that the "much more downforce" statement may not be true.Xyz22 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 21:40The McLaren has just much, much more downforce than the other cars and way less limitations.Hammerfist wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 21:26It seems it may not be the fastest way around anymore. Check the performance in high speed in the first stint.subfire91 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 23:01My feeling is that the "much more downforce" statement may not be true.Xyz22 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 21:40The McLaren has just much, much more downforce than the other cars and way less limitations.Hammerfist wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 21:26

We tend to match them in high speed corner minimum speed which indicates that downforce is very close.
My humble opinion is that they are far superior on the mechanical side (suspension) and tyre management (brake ducts maybe?)
He’s been gone for over a year… no one checked his work in the winter??
