Someone pointed out to me the ramifications of the Honda board disbanding the F1 engine program. If they did not do that, Honda would not have lost 12 to 18 months of development during a period with no budget cap, and they would have had all their best people working in continuity.
That means Red Bull Racing would still be partners with Honda, and Aston Martin would still be a customer team with Mercedes. Aston Martin would never have had the opportunity for an exclusive deal with Honda unless Honda was at a disadvantage.
