He wouldn't be on full throttle then, would he?Sevach wrote:Maybe there's some lift and coast involved.
Ferrari it looks like chose to run in a lower mode during the race to preserve their engine. my post above explains why. looks like they will run in as low a mode as possible while maintaining 3rd and 4th till their upgrades in spain.doubt he closed the DRS early since there would be no benefit to that.zac510 wrote:Possibly he closed DRS early too, but I didn't think the speed would drop that much when DRS closes.
the drs is close in both pictures and noone is in front, so..zac510 wrote:Possibly he closed DRS early too, but I didn't think the speed would drop that much when DRS closes.
Allthough I agree with what you said, it could be that he already overtooo the guy in front..Frafer wrote:the drs is close in both pictures and noone is in front, so..zac510 wrote:Possibly he closed DRS early too, but I didn't think the speed would drop that much when DRS closes.
Which lap is this?Frafer wrote:Look at the speedo, still on full throttle but going slower at the end of the straightYurasyk wrote:What kind of clipping do you mean? You can also be quicker in the corners and slower in a sector; lots of anecdotes about the McLaren from last year being quick in corners but still several years off the paceJuzh wrote:I guess that's why they were 2/10 slower than mercedes. Overall a lot of things don't add up from this post.Cloud981 wrote: - Sector 2 in qualifying and GPS data showed that Ferrari was in fact fastest car in corners at Bahrain
Well you need to accelerate out of every corner, something the Honda Engine wasn't really fond of.f1316 wrote: You can also be quicker in the corners and slower in a sector; lots of anecdotes about the McLaren from last year being quick in corners but still several years off the pace

If it was lagging then the speedo should lag also.Juzh wrote:Which lap is this?Frafer wrote:Look at the speedo, still on full throttle but going slower at the end of the straightYurasyk wrote:What kind of clipping do you mean? The 8th gear is long enough to reach at least over 360 kmph.
Edit. I've looked over the onboards and all ferrari powered cars were doing this almost every lap. I honestly think full throttle bar is lagging a bit and lift & coast is actually happening at the time it's still shown on full throttle. Hard to say..
The optimal laptime (in the race, not qualy) would involve dumping all possible power into the MGK in the early and mid part of a straight. Then, just before braking, the MGK lets off or possibly even sucks up energy to replenish the battery.Frafer wrote: Look at the speedo, still on full throttle but going slower at the end of the straight
