According to Ted:

Car will be ready for quali and…
"The silver lining is they have not been asked to change the car too much because Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are happy with the set-up of their car.’’
Just a fan's point of view

They had what, one corner to feel the setup.

But at least the car is ready.

This might be make it worse for Piastri. He was off pace in SQ so having no more running while other teams improve could leave him vulnerable.

I don't get these "If X happens, Max becomes WDC" comments.

So what if he does. In formula 1, more often than not, the driver finishing in first after the last race of the season is the deserving world champion. They have a points gap to him. They don't really need to do much to keep the title apart from just finishing the races, which is the bare minimum required from a racing driver. If they lose this championship to Max then that would just mean they will have performed a colossal throw and will not be deserving of the title anyway.

I don't know what they are going to do but these kind of incidents must stop. If that keeps happening Max will get a cheap title courtesy of Mclaren giving it to him and we are gonna have all the press saying how he did what even Senna couldn't.

I think you might want to have the same medicine that you prescribed for others

Sigh. Can we leave comments about driver qualify and simping over Max out of the Mclaren forum? Just enjoy the rest of the season.

Whatever happened happened. It's qualifying time. Good luck to our drivers. Let's give it all for the 1-2, take every risk to ensure it.

Agreed. It would be a collossal ---.

I am just frustrated that the team became so obviously focused on each other, often choosing to not split strategies due to fairness which allowed others to take wins.

They should be 100% focused on getting maximum points and not to get a few points over their teammate.

Risky moves by Piastri on Norris make some sense as he is ahead in points but if he is not careful he will be under threat from Verstappen.

As I said in the discord, I’m not a fan of how Lando released the brakes and allowed his car to roll into Oscars corner.

(Had it been anyone else, such as Max, there would have been outrage if he let of the brakes and pushed the car “infront” technically off the track.

Had Lando not rolled off the brakes, the Oscar wouldn’t have attempted a cut back. Realistically, his only choice was to drive off track.
This is a typical defensive move that is done all day long, by all drivers, Max included.

I don't like these overly proscribed rules for overtaking but rolling off the brakes is what they call for.

Oscar was able to easily slot behind Lando as was shown by him being able to do a rapid cutback. If he didn't cut back he could have followed Norris with no incident. Maybe he would have lost a position but thus happens, Norris lost places in such circumstances on multiple occasions.
This^. Rolling off the brakes is Max's masterpiece (imo) and of course they all do it... to gain, defend, protect from and accident etc.
By 'mid' exit Norris is lined up perfectly behind Max on the same line and roughly the same speed, having left plenty of room on the inside.
In the mad 1st corner at this track (and accident waiting to happen), I think he made an excellent job of making up for an 'iffy' start, impeding no-one and still having decent exit speed. If Piastri hadn't collided and made the move stick, he'd be on the outside of the next right hander so would probably have lost out anyway.
2 pence over.

Zak just talked to Sky and was man enough to say after looking at replays Hulkenberg was not to blame.

Eh. Not yet. There are still two more Q runs and from what I see the time set in Q1 is not a time Mclaren hasn't done in sprint qualifying.

Things are really looking bad. The championship leader looks deflated after Zandvoort. The whole team looks deflated while Max is like a shark who smells blood.

This doesn't look normal to me. The continuing deflation of Piastri when he was so stable all year.

I don't know what happened in Q2 but Piastri almost used a new set and he didn't pass the finish line on time.

Q3 is the last chance but Mclaren doesn't seem to have it. The team looks like throwing it all away.
