Credit the team for the improvement.

Lewis would have been first row if not for screwing up the middle sector

Yea he had a snap and lost 2 tenths in the middle sector, would have been p2 but P5 isnt a bad starting position though

The drivers had traffic in their final laps of Q3 so they may be disappointed. But still an amazing result compared to Sprint Quali!!!

Wonderful job from the entire team to make this improvement!!

Interesting that Charles says post quali that fundamentally they didn't change the car between sprint and race qualifying

Leclerc was extremely mad about the traffic after. The Ferraris went out first though. So just bad luck and not much could be done on the team's part to fix it.

Shame about Ham's snap, the rest of the lap was really good. Does anyone have a clip of either driver's lap? I want to rewatch.

Leclerc has a scrubbed soft for tomorrow not sure how helpful it'll be.

While it may be interesting, it's not new nor it should be a surprise. We had Hungary as a race where in the same race they went from absolutely strongest, although by small margin, to massively slower.

This car runs on an absolute razor's edge. Not much to do at this point in the season.

That back end of that Ferrari is really stiff.

Very interesting comments from Vasseur to Canal

Of course he said his usual there was potential to do more (somewhat true because of Ham's snap. But I don't think a pole was there)

He also said they stopped developing too early and one thing they've had to struggle with is the psychological impacts of not having upgrades while other teams do. And how it's difficult to keep up morale like that. But this result is what they've been working toward so it feels good even if it's not perfect.

Yes, ever since the new suspension it’s been much stiffer

There for sure was more from both drivers potentially but its just a hard car to drive, but still a really good recovery from Ferrari, hopefully they have the race pace to challenge the others tomorrow. I forgot how long its been since Ferrari brought upgrades until Fred mentioned it, 17 races (and counting) of no upgrades is a lot

Not only a good recovery in general but this was the first qualifying session in a few races where they executed it well, didn't make any weird tire or pit choices, and the drivers and team were on the same page.

Nice to see them slowly making improvements. I think Vasseur's comment shows they are aware their development plan this season wasn't perfect and they'll learn from it.

Much better than expected actually.
The car looked quite decent in race trim, even if it wasn't very clear because of Sainz.

I didn't hear that though. Pretty sure he said they made changes after the sprint.
