Unfortunate situation for Oscar, great result for Lando. The team now knows that the soft tires are a bad choice.
This is a take I didn't consider, good thinking.

Red flag and Lando changing to soft allowed them to gain a lot of data on the softs. Btw Lando went out on 6 lap old softs so didn't waste a new set.

Disastri strikes again... I had him in my fantasy team this weekend because I was expecting a resurgence on a "normal" track. Really paid off that. I can't recall the last time we saw a self-induced collapse like this? It's his fourth crash in five weekends in a competitive session. And when he hasn't crashed he has been slow.

The expectation is that Vegas will be a nightmare for McLaren though. If Max wins there and McLaren falls into a lowly 6th-7th position, they will lose a significant chunk there making the final 2 races uncomfortable.

Now grant it, that expectation is entirely based on McLaren being horrible in 2023 and 2024, so perhaps they will do a little better this time, but even a P3 (podium) with Max P1 drops 10 points to him, bringing things closer and the championship losable to a DNF.
The MCL39 seems to have addressed some of those related issues from '23 and '24, although it's so tight now that it still poses a threat. Will see how tomorrow pans out first, expecting McLaren and Merc to be out front again.

Mercedes would be favorites in Vegas with their flexi front wing, followed by Ferrari. If Red Bull is chasing their tail with their latest upgrades, they might be behind McLaren there also.

Piastri is having a Weber 2010 season.

A bit sad for us not to see fighting until the end but we can assume that WDC is now over for him

I can not see issues. Today the Sprint was cold and slippery...nothing worse to expect in Vegas. McLaren has adressed the issues.

For McLaren WDC chances it is probably good that one driver has an edge.

But I am still hoping Piastri bounces back and does well, it is safer that both drivers beat Verstappen.
