Engine cooling issues and tyre management on softer compounds seem to be Alpine's main headaches in the races

Yes i think they need more downforce and more mechanical grip at rear otherwise they are just fast in qualy look at mercedes its the complete opposite

Sh*t race. Awful strategy, great tyre degradation (no).
Miserable race pace. When you aren't able to overtake old tyres Williams the whole race the question comes out if Alpine is aware, that points are given on Sunday.
To be honest boring circuit, it would be better to stay in 2019

On a scenario where Fernando pits during SC, he could’ve finished ahead of Ocon at least?

There was a difference between Alonso and Ocon setups i think fernando was more than half s faster on qualy than Ocon its huge so i think he focused in qualy setup more than race setup and he got graining after 5 laps

Alonso was fine. He got blisters or bad graining in his front left tyre, the Mediums & then it wouldn't work. Came out behind traffic & tried overtaking cars in a DRS train who had Hards & then he was done for.

Grid position is key. If you start P4-P5, then it is okay. Alonso on 25-30 lap Hards was not hugely slower than Mclaren or Mercedes with new Mediums. This track is too hard to overtake & you need to be in the Top 5-6 to have a good race. Alpine has pace, possibly near to Mercedes. They need upgrades & to nail down Position 3. Alonso could have been on the podium instead of Russel on pure pace !

Alonso’s strategy today did not make any sense at all. Very weird stuff..

All this bad luck means it'll be cancelled out with a race win soon

It's pretty encouraging for Alpine.
Ocon tried a different setup, saying himself on French TV he doesn't like it but he had to kept it due to parc fermé rule. In spite of that he finished 7th
Alonso's strategy was killed by the SC, they bet for another one I believe but it didn't paid off. Regularly Alonso would've fought with the McLaren.

The top speed is very high and the engine is looking good, they just need to understand more the car and be better on Sunday...

Awful team effort. It was obvious that they should go until the very end, just like Albon did.

Two things which wrecked the race for alonso: safety car and drs trains. The field stayed bunched up nearly all race so the alternate strategy didn't work.

Ocon did a solid job again

Strategy was fine. Alonso couldn't go to the end of the race on mediums from lap 23....That's why they didn't pit him. When he got to mediums, they lasted only 7-8 laps. Their only chance was the long stint on the hards without safety car. The next best chance was to stay on the hards through the safety car and that's exactly what they did.

Presume you mean the 2nd SC? That was too early to make it to the end on Mediums. Would have pushed to a 2 stop strategy.

Think, starting on hards, you're hoping for no SCs or at least not in the Medium tire window.

When that 2nd SC happened, he lost all the advantage of starting on hards.

Seems this Renault car is opposite of its predecessors, no problem at getting tyre quickly up the temps, but very unforgiving towards them on heavy fuel.
