Ferrari 675 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It's mentioned in the article that shortening the sidepods will trigger turbulence and separation. This may be completely incorrect, since separation depends on various geometry details. If sidepods are narrower, then by being shorter they keep geometric similarity to F1-75 solution, so why should separation be expected?
Wouldn't doing this reduce the amount of control the sidepod has on moving airflow outwards away from the floor.

Last year we saw teams with excessively large sidepods and some teams even increase the size of their sidepods throughout the year.

What methods would be available by teams to offset this loss in airflow control?

To be honest, I think it's small number for me. RB was faster than Ferrari so italians should find near two seconds per lap if they want to be safe. Be faster than F1-75 means 0.5 - 0.7s faster than RB18 so it's not the number I want to see in 2023 :(
Yes there is lap time increasing because of new regulations but it is only the second year of these cars, they should find much more speed.
1 second is a monster number in a time with heavy restrictions on budget and development.
No :( Look at W13, this car was much slower than F1-75 at the start of the season but in Brasil they brought 1-2. So 1sec against Ferrari-2022 is not enough because I'm sure Rb19 and W14 will be fast enough compared themselves. Only more than 2sec from project 675 can make me happy.

you're forgetting one fundamental thing: Ferrari abandoned the development of the car basically in the summer, while mercedes continued...

Whilst anybody here would welcome a 1 Second improvement to the SF-75 from last year (despite how strong it already was), there could always be the case that Red Bull and Mercedes could've found the same, if not more than us... so this is all just a hype which the authors of the articles always portray, forgetting the fact there is 9 other teams on the grid...

Duchessa is an engineer, and never writes inflated bluster to get many "clicks". Furthermore, saying "Ferrari 675 is a second faster in the simulator" doesn't mean that he's excluding that others can do the same ... As I said, Ferrari stopped the developing of the SF75 in the middle of the season, and in addiction to this after at a certain point was forced to "detune" the PU for reliability reasons...so, It's not that unlikely that the new car in the simulator (I repeat, in the simulator...) have a great advantage over the old one :)
For sure Rb and Mb can do the same, we will see.

True, though this depends on treatment method for front tyre wake. RB seems to have done solely with floor barge boards, which allowed them to reduce sidepod drag. However, to me it looks like there is a different floor philosophy with this direction, so maybe not many teams could replicate it last year. Ferrari for sure did not, nor needed to.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

From Formula Passion:
"According to the online edition of Repubblica, the Ferrari 2023 would already be half a second faster than the F1-75 based on what emerged on the simulator."

The F1-75 lost more than the W13 gained overall via TD39

Brazil was an outlier circuit.

Really lots of misleading airflow animations, unfortunately. Not expecting their interpretation of 2023 sidepods at all.

I posted it for the reason you say.
They're the only ones I found on the web predicting Red Bull style sidepods for the 675.

I am not able to detect "misleading airflow animations" (not an expert), but Chrono GP regularly presents "misleading info".
PS Thank you for your opinion on "misleading airflow animations".

So, this might be more likely than RBR style sidepods predicted by ChronoGP?

This instead is how ChronoGP supposes the 675 sidepods will be (RBR style):
