It was driver error again
Grip level was normal, perez spins out of boredom and being completely checked out. Today he was slow, a whole second per lap off verstappen. That would still be sufficient for some points, but he couldn't even manage that.
I don't see that.
Erik van Haren said they dropped the ride height by 3mm between sprint and qualifying for max, amongst other changes.Paa wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 01:30Do you think there was an "aha" moment for Red Bull this weekend in terms of setup? Something similar like Max had at Baku-2023? After both races he spoke similarly about learning few very interesting things.
Also do we even know anything about the extent or nature of the changes they did? I only know that they experimented with the suspension with Perez during the sprint.
After qualy Max said something about they "made some tweaks" so kind of downplaying the extent of the setup work. But then someone from Red Bull team (I don't remember who) said that they completely changed the whole setup.
Either way, they significantly improved both qualy and race pace.
But it is not sure if they found something new, or maybe this was their standard form on this track and they just underachieved at the sprint with suboptimal setup.
Thanks for the info. However, that's not really a revolutional change, rather sounds like they were a bit conservative for the sprint.organic wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 02:12Erik van Haren said they dropped the ride height by 3mm between sprint and qualifying for max, amongst other changes.Paa wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 01:30Do you think there was an "aha" moment for Red Bull this weekend in terms of setup? 3mm is insane for ground effect. The 3 mm change in the static ride height causes additional lowering at speed (because there's even more downforce pushing the car down).Paa wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 02:15Thanks for the info. Unless they found something that allows them to run lower than before. Which would be a game changer, but I guess this is the less likely scenario.
Yeah, I did not mean the overall effect. We have seen that their pace improved massively.AR3-GP wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 02:203mm is insane for ground effect.
