Yes, I think this is the reality. The question is if we see Per in the RB?
Gasly and Albon were rookies when they were teammate to Max i think given time Gasly would have improved .Gasly was on on average 0.4 tenth behind Max. perez is nowhere near that level excerpt on few tracks that he likes.
Gasly was not a rookie. He'd raced for Toro rosso for a season and a half before being promoted
According to my records, he was just as far away from Verstappen in race trim as qualifying across the past 4 seasons. The car was just quicker than where he qualified making him look better on Sunday.organic wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 15:17Gasly was not a rookie. Additionally you've got your numbers wrong. Gasly was 0.55s slower than Max on average in qualifying but the deficit was higher in race trim. He was lapped by verstappen at Austria and gasly started blaming the car's design rather than looking at himself. That was the attitude issue that got him booted quickly with no chance of a return
In 2021-2023 perez's average deficit was usually around 0.5s, but he was better in the race than qualifying so it was not so bad. 2024 it's fallen apart
Which was mostly due to the car being heavy all year & an understeer machineJPower wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 17:572022 was the only season where he was truly in an acceptable range to Max IMO.organic wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 15:17Gasly was not a rookie. 100% correct. I would still add, that the bad year of Gasly cost RedBull the possible P2 in the constructors. Just like this year...being well above 50% of the points of Verstappen would have been enough to secure P2 as this would have taken away points from Ferrari.organic wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 15:17Gasly was not a rookie. I think Perez out is clear, the question is still if Perez is smart and takes his hat early enough and has a nice goodbye this weekend. Or if they just end it in the winter...
Tsunoda is used to being scorned by the media TBF. Not sure what it is, other than maybe a bad first impression towards the beginning of 2021 with a few crashes, but for the rest of the season, much of 2022 and 2023 I felt he was viewed very critically by the likes of sky and f1tvAR3-GP wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 18:22The next driver in that seat will be the next punching bag for f1 fans and media critics because he failed to defeat this era's main protagonist, Max Verstappen. I don't think Tsunoda can survive all of the awfulness that the F1 community harbors for the teammate that loses to Max.
There aren't any other options, right? Colapinto looks too crash-happy. Typical rookie syndrome. Lawson looks a bit rough around the edges still - like he'd damage the car every weekend in tussels. Who else? In a few years red bull's next promising junior arvid lindblad may be ready but in the meantime there isn't anyone obvious (other than sainz who they didn't pursue for whatever reason..)Paa wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 18:37Why does everyone seem to wait for Tsunoda so much? He might be best option from the 3, but I think he is still subpar for being at Red Bull. They are just wasting one more year with him.
Would be much better to aim for a proper replacement with whom they can aim for multiple years together.
Tsunoda can be blisteringly fast at times, but he is far from being consistent enough, from race to race, sometimes even within a weekend. Also he doesn't seem to be able to keep his cool during races. He would be exposed by these big time at Red Bull and next to Max.
