McLaren MCL36

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I always wonder why FIA wont mandate some kind of wheel water spray guard for wet weekends which can be fitted if the track is wet during weekend, its an easy fix for safety standards. Also it helps TV viewers or audience to see all cars on track.

That wouldn’t help much, most of the spray is generated by the diffuser.

The spec part has the split in it, this image actually proves the point, it has 2 splits i.e. 3 elements. Gary Anderson was saying McLaren only had 1 split, so this image proves he was wrong and it's actually identical to Red Bull.

Here's the same part on the Red Bull:

The angle can be deceptive and make it appear as if there aren't slots, but this image of the Williams is one of the clearest due to the texture of the carbon fibre:

Are these made by a certain team like Red Bull make the wheel covers or are the teams given the specs to make themselves? some slight differences in materials between the McLaren and Red Bull parts

The front deflectors are made by the teams to drawings provided by the FIA. they are allowed to vary some part of the design, the middle, to suit f surrounding components and their individual flow fields.

According to Frederic Ferret, our floor might not be legal. Some teams have complained apparently. Suggesting that the floor was deforming at high speed. I hope none of this is correct. But if it is... damnit.
