Heres a thought that occured yesterday, the F2005 has a new engine that is incompatible with the F2004M.

Does this mean that Sauber were running a newer / better engine over the first few races?

Anybody have more information?

Under what terms do Ferrari allow they're engine to be bought by Sauber. Do they restrict the engines performance in any way before allowing it into another teams hands?

Needless to say Ferrari wouldn't be so keen to allow others access to their engine if the engine/rest of package balance was biased strongly towards the engine!

Since Ferrari are running what is basically last year's engine, maybe that is why they are so shy on qualifying, not seeming willing to really show full pace. I would suspect they have little faith in an '04 spec engine surviving two races running at full chat.
We will see when they debut the new car and engine package, and see if they suddenly will contest for the pole.

I would have had a few quid on on an '04 lump lasting for two weekends.
