Probably you’re mixing Fiorano and Mugello.
Mugello is about 5.3 km long, when you read about the “short version”, it simply means that for the in lap the driver used a shortcut for the pits.
There’s a 1+ km long straight line but also fast and difficult corners, elevation changes etc... it’s quite demanding for driver and car and definitively better than most of the tracks used in F1; to be honest, if not for a certain obvious reason, Mugello would be by far my preferred choice for the Italian GP, it’s IMO the best track in Italy.
That obviously doesn’t guarantee that since the F2005 seems to be fast there it will be a champ winner, but if you don’t have time to test on many tracks, Mugello is a very good choice.
At the official site
http://www.mugellocircuit.it/english you can see track map, pics of the corners and also download the video of a lap onboard a MotoGP bike. Once you’ve seen the video consider that a F1 requires 35 s. less...

This gave them at least 3-4 months head start to the other teams in terms of development but why they couldnt produce the f2005 in Melbourne
Brawn explained in Malaysia that they had to design a brand new gearbox because the old one wasn’t optimal for the requirements of the new rules on the diffuser area (central tunnel lot more important now).
