I was wondering about the life of the tires I saw on Sundays race. I only got the last 30 or so laps. What is the life span of the tires on the F1s? Are they the same type of rubber used in "NASCAR"? Furethuremore wouldnt the rubber used for the Space Shuttle be the absolute best since it is designed for re-entry landings. This type of material can and does take an incrediable amount of heat; however would it be a viable thing for F1?
I also noticed that the fuel economy of F1 is better than that of "NASCAR" it is 4mpg vs 1mpg. This is interesting since the F1 cars rev at about 15K rpm and "NASCAR" is at 8K to 10K rpm. The only thing I could think of would be the amount of drag force. This would include body style, body height, motor and drive train configurations.
Ok, your turn,
