What's going on at Hamilton's car? (Korea)

Post

Hello guys!

Remember, I'm not here to stir up the pot but I'm trying to force my brain to wrap itself around what I'm seeing here. Well, more like hearing actually. Watch this:

If you're listening carefully, you'll hear some rattling under acceleration. It can't be off-throttle blowing because it's happening while accelerating, and the first thing I thought was a form of TC. Or a special engine map. Can somebody with background knowledge go into this and explain what we are hearing?

That sounds suspiciously like the controlled misfire of traction control to me, or some other trick exhaust crap for low speed down force.

Its no secret that for years the renaults have been cutting cylinders down mid corner, helps with lots of things, and yeah, could be seen as traction control, but the effects would be tiny. It is fully legal and all engines are probably doing it.

This is just smart firing/cylinder cut. There is more a map needs to do that just add fuel/adjust ratio... they do a huge array of things to get the needed stoichiometric ratio at any one time... or as close as they can get within the regulations.
