Silly Season 2013/2014 Speculation

Post

The silly season is here, its about now that the speculation starts for 2013 mid season changes and 2014 season start drivers. I also think there will be a silly season for Technical Directors as well, so

Ill start with some mid season changes:

Frijns to replace Guiteriez at Sauber for last 6 races of the season.
Webber to leave Red Bull and have both STR drivers do at least 2 or 3 races each in the RB9 in a race seat shootout.

2014 Season:

Red Bull-Renault
01] Sebastian Vettel
02] Daniel Riccardo

Lotus-Renault
03] Kimi Raikkonen
04] Romain Grosjean

Scuderia Ferrari
05] Fernando Alonso
06] Paul Di Resta

Mercedes AMG
07] Lewis Hamilton
08] Nico Rosberg

Force India-Mercedes
09] Adrian Sutil
10] Charles Pic

McLaren-Mercedes
11] Jenson Button
12] Sergio Perez

Toro Rosso-Renault
14] Jean Eric Vergne
15] António Félix da Costa

Sauber-Ferrari
16] Nico Hulkenberg
17] Robin Frijns

Williams-Toyota
18] Pastor Maldanado
19] Kamui Kobiyashai

Caterham-Renault
20] Guedo Van Der Garde
21] Heikki Kovalinenn

I think Jules Bianchi is more likely to go to Ferrari than Paul Di Resta

I don't see Ferrari dumping Massa. If anything, Vettel will be at Ferrari next to Alonso.

Maybe we ought to split up this thread:

- Rumors I have heard
- Changes I would like to see

The dream scenario in my view is to have Raikkonen-Vettel-Alonso-Hamilton (in my view, the field's top 4 drivers today, in no particular order) in 2 top teams. If F1 allowed 4-car teams I'd love to see them in 1 team. Sadly I don't think any of the combo is gonna happen.

The only possible permutations I can see happening are Vettel-Raikkonen RBR, or Vettel-Hamilton Mercedes. While Alonso and Lewis may have outgrown 2007's falling out, if I were a team principle I wouldn't want to bet on it - because there would be too much at stake just in case the worst case scenario of a relapse plays out. Given that Alonso has made it publicly clear that he intends to end his career at Ferrari, and Ferrari have made it clear they don't want two top dogs, I think we can rule Alonso of any possible combos, unfortunately.

Would be amazed if Raikonnen stayed at Lotus with Allison leaving.

He's got RB written all over him. IMO.

With regards to silly season? I don't think ESPI ever is.

I distinctly remember he said last year how Gutierrez would be taking Kobayashi's seat towards the end of the season, 2 grands prix before the YDT, so that he can still take part in the YDT.

Kamui to Ferrari would make perfect sense; didn't really show he could be a serious title contender, so Alonso wouldn't be threatened too much, but did show he can be really quick and pulled some amazing overtakes, so Alonso would feel threatened enough!

I don't think so. What Ferrari need is a team player. Kamui is a great overtaker but he's got an air of unpredictability about him. He's not consistent, and he wouldn't help win a WCC as much as Massa.
