first visit to Spa

Post

I've been closely following F1 for over 15 years, but never actually went to a race, can you imagine.
Now I got some bronze tickets for Spa and am very excited.
I wonder however what the best corner would be to follow the race, see some overtaking, etc.
On first sight I would think 'les combes' ... ?
Without any doubt there are people here with a better thought on this.
Thanks in advance!

My first visit there was 2010 and I loved it. I watched FP1 at Pouhon, FP2 at Bruxelles, FP3 at Les Combes, Quali at Kemel straight and the race at the top of what is always mistakenly called Eau Rouge, from there you can see over to the Bus Stop .
All spots where fantastic so you need to get around for the first few days and find what you like. Hope you have a ggreat time and the weather isnt too bad for you

The bride and I have been talking about going to a race at Spa and the feedback from dave34 has whetted our appetite. We live a 7 hour drive from Montreal and have been there twice, but dislike the way that track operates with regard to spectators, who must sit in their assigned seat and nowhere else. So while we are within driving distance, we are disinclined to make the trip.

I started watching Formula 1 at Watkins Glen, where one could circulate the entire track during the race and see the action from many vantage points. That ability greatly enriches the viewing experience, at least for me.

Where does one stay at Spa? It would seem the track is somewhat less of a glitzy location than Singapore or Monaco.
Some men go crazy; some men go slow. Some men go just where they want; some men never go.

The same place as at silverstone – in a tent, in a field!

Oooh, camping at the track. Such fun! The smell of bacon and the sound of screaming engines at breakfast time. Now THAT'S the way to attend a motor race. :D

Yep, last time I went the farmer who had cleared his field even put on a hog roast in the evening after qually – meant that all the fans got together in the middle of the field, and chatted – it's a great atmosphere.

So how is your weekend going at Spa, where did you watch the action on the first day and what was your impression?
