It seems a distinct enough subject to merit its own discussion separate and apart from another thread that already has 768 posts and has been active for over a year.

Personally, I think no one should be surprised the other teams are upset by this turn of events for several reasons:

1. The testing was done without informing the other teams.

2. Testing is strictly limited by the FIA, which is part of the reason why there is such an uproar over the Pirelli tires this season.

3. ANY additional testing by ANY team, with FIA blessing, just smacks of really, really poor decision making on behalf of the FIA. How would they think that a.) No one else would find out? and b.) once word got out, there would not be enormous blowback from the other teams?

The FIA must be scrupulous in not only avoiding favoring one team over others, but also to avoid the APPEARANCE of favoritism. They have shot themselves in the foot here. In tennis, this would be known as an "unforced error". To the rest of the world, it is called good old fashioned stupidity. :wtf:

Whatever it was you've got to admit that when it comes do drama Formula 1 never fails to disappoint. What were they thinking? I'm going with Brawn-Todt and Ecclestone-Lauda connections to explain this mess. Pirelli being innocent bystander caught in politics.
