For some races, the live broadcast is on NBC rather than NBCsports.

NBC is making a huge push into new sports markets. Some of them are on NBC. Some are on NBCsports. And when there are three events at the same time, the sometimes use CNBC. Or MSNBC. It gets confusing. They sometimes do the prerace show on NBCSports and then switch to NBC for the race, leaving race fans wondering why they are watching a fishing show all of a sudden.. :wtf:

Overall, in the US, the NBC coverage has been better than the old Speed coverage. Why, they actually flew Diffey, Hobbes and Matchett to Monaco for the race! Incredible. But the switching programming around among various channels IS a bit of PIA for viewers.

The commentators were hilariously bad when I was watching monaco. I particularly loved that they thought the last corner was called Anthony No Gays.

They're the same ones that Speed had, and they were awful then, too. On the other hand, they're all three British, so that explains their inability to pronounce anything properly.

Monaco was the highest rated race here in years, so hopefully they're learning that there's a market for early morning live races on network TV. I've always wondered why they shuffled the sport off to the back corners of cable, when they've got nothing else to air on early Sunday mornings but church services and news shows.
