Hi,

You could probably ask 'how long is a piece of string?'

Do you mean the in-ear defender or the over-the-head defender? I would have thought they would change from brand to brand - especially for the cheap stuff sold at grand prix races.

Thank you for the replies.

Yeah i meant the over the head defenders. Actually when i was at the track i used the foam one and it was too loud for me...my ear hurt. And i was thinking now getting the other version for this years race (in 2 weeks)... and want to buy it in advance :) Just do not know which one to buy...which one would be enough. Want some similar, that are sold at the track :)

In ear protection is much better than on-head protection! Maybe you should use both!

Most in ear plugs cut about 25db(custom molded sets will cut about 28db) and good over the head ones cut around 29-31 db. I do alot of hunting, so I'm somewhat familiar with hearing protection. Peltor and Silencio are two good brands. I disagree with the assertion that in ear models are better than the over the head ones.

I use in ear wax/silicone together with the biggest Peltors! Better save than sorry!

As drummer with hearing damage in one ear , i use both in ear and on head protection combined while recording in studio , and for my type of business (recording drums ) i find in ear protection better! But there are differences between gun shot and drum sound in frequencies of sounds and lasting of sound! I really never heard Formula 1 live , so maybe both protection combined would be best!

I will be more than happy to blast his chicken and grill it up. Dinner at my place!
