1981 British Grand Prix, which date?

Post

I stumbled upon a strange thing. All online sources I found (wiki, f1-facts, some other sites) state that 1981 British GP was at July, 18th. I viewed a calendar and it apparently was a Saturday. So, either all the sources are wrong, and GP was held at July, 19th instead, or it was an occasion of a race held on Saturday and if it is indeed so, why?

So does FormulaOne.com, so I'd reckon it's correct then. I guess it can happen sometimes that things are changed around for whatever reason.

That was also the day btw that Wilhelm HC Tenhaeff, Dutch para-psychologist, died at 87 years of age.

Maybe a common source with a mistake? Happens all the time in science.

I think it's a rare occasion for a GP to be held on Saturday, and it's quite interesting for me why it happened (if it happened).
Maybe someone around here has Autosport issue from that time?

A time paradox then? :)

This video mentions in the very beginning, that the times of the Lotus drivers achieved in the training on Thursday were deleted. So it seems to be correct that the GP was started on Saturday, but i don't know exactly why!

Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)

The British Open ended on July 19th in 1981. So this might have been something asked for by the BBC.
In most cases, the majority is below the average.

Traditionally the British GP was on a Saturday until 1983
