miniture accumulator on Ferrari 2012 and 13 car.

Hi everyone , i was very curious about what I am seeing on the formula 1 cars around the engine and gearbox area. Particularly on Ferrai , I saw small miniture accumulators. Thats what I believe it is. As far as I think its being used where continiues pressure is required. Can someone point out the supplier or in-depth know how on this subject.

i have found some more accumulator picture at the gearbox bay. they are located just parrallel to the top casing of the gearbox with the yellow nut on the top head.

you may ask a hydraulics specialist ,maybe Exp would be the right one.
I could imagine these sort of things are aimed to dampen out pressure pulses that can be a horror in hydraulic systems ...these systems are easily excited at very low frequencies and that has a direct impact on car behaviour ,and system performance -pump life one of the obvious ones but judder another one ...
if you know the exact frequency and are prepared to tune the system a blind t-branch with LONG tubing length can do wonders to cancel low pressure pulsations.

errm ...I spoke of our member ...xpensive... who knows a thing or two about these things..anyways I´m glad if my input does start your grey matter to do its work ..

I believe marcush is correct, quick hydraulic positioning systems can get too stiff, accumulators are good compensators.

-stiff - I´m always impressed by simple terms for complicated issues .Long live engineneering -the love of my life ...oh wait the second love of my life -wait ...no the third ...
