- With his victory, Lewis Hamilton continues to be the only driver in history to win in every season he participated in Formula One. Counting full seasons, only Michael Schumacher (who joined half-way the 1991 season, but won in his first full season, 2008) in his first career, and Sebastian Vettel (who joined half-way the 2007 season, but won in his first full season, 2008) can lay claim to the same achievement.
- Together with Michael Schumacher who won in 1994, 1998, 2001 and 2004, no one has now won around the Hungaroring more often than Lewis. With his 4th victory today, he surpassed his hero Ayrton Senna, who crossed the finish line first in 1988, 1991 and 1992. This is now also Lewis' most successful track on the calendar.
- Today's win ensured he did not extend his personal 'record' of a winless streak of 10 races, between China 08 and Hungary 09, and now Brazil 12 to Hungary 13.
- This is Lewis' 12th win from pole position, which means he converted 36% of all his pole positions into victory.
- His pole position on Saturday marked a new milestone for Lewis: this was the first time he put the car on pole position three times in a row. A feat only achieved of the current drivers by Sebastian Vettel (longest streak of 5, in 2010-2011 and once again in 2011), Fernando Alonso (longest streak of 5, in 2006), Nico Rosberg (longest streak of 3, in 2013), Mark Webber (longest streak of 3, in 2010) and Kimi Räikkönen (longest streak of 3, in 2005).
- This is Lewis' 4th victory in Hungary, but besides the Mercedes engine, there is one other common denominator to all his victories: Kimi Räikkönen on the podium. In 2007, when Lewis took his first win around the Hungaroring, Kimi finished 2nd. In 2009, when Lewis took his second win, Kimi was right behind him in 2nd. Distraught by Kimi's retirement, Lewis didn't win again until last year, when Kimi returned and Lewis won his third race in Hungary, with Kimi picking up 2nd place trophy. And who was celebrating with Lewis today? You guessed it: Kimi in second!
- This is Lewis' and Kimi's 16th podium together, the same number of podiums Lewis has with Fernando. But, despite that, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton have yet to meet each other on the podium of the Hungaroring. Did they jinx it back in 2007?
- After celebrating (well, celebrating...) their 10th shared podium in Malaysia this year, this is the first time Lewis and Sebastian are side-by-side in Hungary, one of only two races on the calendar Vettel has yet to win. Who wants to put down a bet on these two on the podium in Austin?
- Fernando Alonso's 5th place meant that for the first time since Bahrain last year, he had two consecutive non-podium finishes.
- In 1993, Damon Hill won his first ever race at the Hungaroring. In 2003, it was Fernando Alonso who got his maiden victory here, and in 2013... we congratulate Lewis on his 22nd victory! Maybe it was offset by Jenson Button and Heikki Kovalainen who took their maiden wins here in 2006 and 2008 respectively.
- Despite Lewis' first victory for Mercedes, there seems to be a bit of animosity between Hungary and Mercedes: every year so far, one car makes it to the finish line, yet the other retires with mechanical issues.
- Sebastian Vettel's overheating and KERS issues during the race, made it the third race in a row that he had to deal with mechanical gremlins. It's the first time since the 2011 European Grand Prix one Red Bull driver has so many issues in consecutive races, and the first time since the European Grand Prix last year that both Red Bull drivers suffered mechanical issues in the same Grand Prix weekend. Red Bull's worst mechanical issue-run as a team stands at 5, from the 2012 Indian Grand Prix to the 2013 Australian Grand Prix.
- Although Felipe Massa no doubt does not have happy feelings about the track that severely injured him in 2009, his track record his since his accident is actually better than before: an average 10th place in qualifying, one 7th place finish (no points then) and 5 retirements before 2009, yet since his return, an average 5th place in qualifying and points every year.
