Sato, Interesting racer or imminent Danger?

Post

hi guys, though i would open it up for discusion. Last year sato was one of the more interesting drivers, but this year, there are very few incidents that he has not been involved with. his performance are less that impressive, (but hey, that happens). The question is:

Having a bad year - I quite like Taku's spirit, but he is no way near being a top class driver (probably never will be).

I think there is room in F1 for people like him.....

I was initially a fan of Sato, he put in some impressive drives, especially at the Japanese GP previously.
He's quick enough to be a professional racer, but I really wonder what's going on behind the eyes, if that brain is actually working. He has exhibited some real lapses of judgement, and to me, that's an indiactor of an inferior racer. Especially at last year's Monaco, when his engine expired big time to throw up a cloud of smoke that took out other cars. Yes, it was mechanical failure, but he could have pulled off much earlier, to avoid what later transpired.
NASCAR has a saying for a driver like that.. "he's a wreck waiting to happen". Sadly, IMO, he could easily make a metal error, and kill someone...

Both, actually! It is his kamikaze manouvers that make him an interesting driver to watch.

I’m not sure which one suits him better - kamikaze or kaiten :?

If he was crashing his car against the fences I wouldn't mind but constant collisions with other competitors are shameful. He will never become a great driver and having him in F1 is no good at all.

I've gotta stick with kamikaze on this one....kamikaze pilots do it with greater speed, and no torpedo will ever be as fast as a plane (with the exception of one Russian torpedo that can reach speeds of up to 200 knots - yeah, I know. I thought it was a typo, too, but from what I hear, it isn't).

he started all his nonsense in the second half of the season around the time there where rumours that barrichello was coming. I think its fueled by the pressure of not performing this season. I feel will onli stay in f1 because he is japanese but someone needs to give him a good kick in the ass and ask him to inprove!! maybe after been dropped by bar may give him the reality check he needs..

BTW WOW.. What a solid qualifying job by Kartekayen

Umm given a choice between

Nutcase drivers like Sato or ultra boring clinical drivers like Schumacher
Id choose Sato every time .

After all i watch F1 for the entertainment not to just watch some drive around in formation, We want more entertaining drivers like Sato .

His passing maneuvers will inspire a new wave of morons. I was karting the other day and the only reason some guy won was because he pulled a Sato and ran the guy off

we may see him in midlands next year. or even in the mysterious honda b team. what ever team he joins he will be the main driver. hopefully this added responsiblity may calm him down!

lol...it really is a shame. I watched him race in British F3...I really liked him, though he shud go to F1...then he does...yippee...how happy was I....then he started racing the F1 cars...how unhappy was i?! LOL!!!

Its always seemed to me that he tries to hard to impress. And so he isn't learning how to drive an F1 car. Taku needs to learn that driving a 900BHP F1 car and a 200BHP F3 car are different. And the only way he's gonna perfect his driving style for an F1 car is that he stop over-driving, calms down, and LEARNS DILLIGENTLY. Learn then push the boundaries...not the other way around...or you'll end up facing the other way around on the track!

Well, pulling a Homer ends up with success...
