Will Alonso retire a double WDC?

Post

Alonso has talent. Every blind man and his dog can see that. Even if you don't like the guy, you have to admit that he is one of the best. IMO his talent is worth more than 2 WDCs, if you can "quantify" talent in number of WDCs. However, through no lack of driving talent and nor driving skill, I see Alonso retiring a double WDC - because I don't think the stars will align for him in time. Hamilton is undoubtedly also a deserved multiple WDC, but he has time on his side - while Alonso's time is running out (he's no spring chicken)

I distinct possibility Ray, with the rise of Mercedes, and Lotus, the inevitable resurgence of McLaren, and the strength of RB it is not going to be easy. However I would not bet against him. That guy Zo, he is a rather clever fellow!

Alonso is a superb driver but his social skills have not always been the best. He did a lot of damage to his career chances in 2007. It took a lot of hard work to get him into Ferrari, but Ferrari atm do not seem to be able to run at the top and give him a championship worthy car. So it is possible that he will have to finish with just two championships to his name. He could always make a surprise decision to join Red Bull though and then it would look more likely. He certainly has the ability to beat Vettel, at least he did last year. The question is how long that is going to last. Vettel is improving all the time and he is no slough either.

Unless he wins another championship, yes.

That seems the perfect conclusion.
