Course Cars?

Post

At the start of the race today i noticed a Ferrari 348 pull up at the back of the grid, like it was a course car or something. I always thought F1 used Mercs for this purpose, and was also surprised at the sheer choice of car... a 20+ year old Ferrari sportscar wtf? Does anyone know anything more about this, why that car might have been there at the back of the grid today?

It's one of the various cars used by the guys of the CEA, aka I Leoni (the Lions), the guys offering fire fighting service in Italian tracks (but also in Monaco).
These vehicles are stationing (together with ambulances and other service cars) in various marshal areas, in other places the car is usually an Alfa SW, the Ferrari 348 is normally located at the exit of Parabolica (more precisely where the old banked corner joins the track) and follows cars at the start with additional firing extinguishing equipment so to give even more rapid intervention in event of a crash with fire.
