Schumacher’s Nationality

Post

Ok so now that the season is over it would seem that there is little left to speculate about so here’s the latest:

Which nationality is Michael?
I think he is Italian

Thats what all the records say - hes german. I am not so sure about that, i think he has been changed to italian - need some proof?

Why did he cry when he won on Italian soil for the first time and not in his home country?

A person can "lose" original nationality if it renounces that nationality but I don't think that MS has done that. If a person renounces nationality before acquiring nationality of some other country than such person is called apatrid (person with no nationality). Third option is having dual nationality which many athletes have especially if they origin from poor countries.

If Michael had renounced his German origins and taken up Italian citizenship then I'm sure he would have told the media. Sure it would create a fuss...but its MS, he wouldn't want to but again, he's not going to like to hear the German national anthem playing if he now considers himself italian! He couldn't stand that. He's quite an honourable guy...ruethless on the track maybe, but outside an honourable guy. My friends uncle works for a company who deals with Michael...he has met him 3 or 4 times and says he's a little arrogant, but a trustworthy and polite appearing person.
