Hi Res Photos - Where Are They?

Post

I've been a very keen collector of hi res F1 photos from the interest of the last 5 or 6 years but it's almost impossible to find hi res photos today. Everyone seems to either close down or start demanding money (http://www.F1-Live.com sucks). So, does anyone know of a site that has good hi res photos and updates them after races etc?
Thanks very much.

It is indeed very hard to find F1 high resolution pics. Big commercial site's don't offer them anymore. If you really want high res. F1 pics you'll have to get them from the amateur site's of the photographers themselves wich is of course very difficult because you'll have to get them form a lot of different site's. It becomes even more difficult because there are only few photographers making F1 pics, because it's very hard to get a photographers badge for F1 events.

I first collected F1 pics myself but now I don't do this anymore because of the difficulty. Now I've started collecting pics of GT cars. (Fia GT, Belcar, Dutch Supercar Challenge, BTCS....) I think it's cooler because there's a huge variety of cars.
Show that you're a loser with a lot of money who can't get a racing license, drive the Gumball 3000...

I have some pictures from the Canadian GP '04, '05. Unfortunately, partly because I was more interested in the race itself, I didn't take that many and some of them didn't turn out the way you'd want them to. But there are a few that are pretty decent - actually, I've got an awesome picture of Alonso zooming past my grandstand. Manchild, you'll love that one.

Is there a way of uploading them on this site (some are 1MB+) or do I have to open up an online photo album? In case I do, anybody know of a good place where I can post them?

Thanks.

Thanks.

I'll set something up, but I won't be able to for at least 1-2 weeks.

Cheers.

I don't know any other than f1-live.com . Bernie closed all the others. Try putting the photos at webshots.com.

Alright, here's the deal. I'd signed up for Yahoo's photo album, but for some reason I can't upload high quality photos. So far, I've been able to upload only five pictures (can anybody say "lazy"). There is a picture in there that is meant for our site owners (they'll know which one  ).

I will upload others as well, but give me some time.

btw, if anybody knows how to upload high-quality photos (these are 4.0 mega pixles) on Yahoo, let me know. Otherwise, I might have to open-up a fake website that'll be used to host pictures.

Browsers won’t display 32bit photos, and I think yahoo won't allow you to upload PSD and CPT files (among others). Also, the size of each individual photo can’t exceed 5mb and I think that you can’t upload more than 5 mb (overall) during one upload session regardless on number and size of files.

24bit jpeg is the best option, so perhaps you’ll have to do some converting. If “yahoo photos” is giving you the headache upload them on yahoo geocities (using same ID). There you have 15mb of free space.

Compressing a photo for 5% is almost undetectable while it reduces the size of the photo for almost 50%.

Hope this helps…
