McLaren gold suspension coating

Post

Does anybody know why there's a golden coating at McLaren's rear suspension structure? I guess it's because of friction, or maybe heat reflection, as it is only at the rear, but not sure.

I'm pretty sure it IS gold - they did the same thing in the McLaren F1 road car!

It is gold foil for heat reflection and it was first used by Ferrari some 4-5 seasons ago (if not more) to protect suspension arms from heat since on one race (Monaco I think) exhaust "killed" suspension on Schuey's car.
