What is happening to mclaren

Is all of this becasue they lost West sponsorship?

BTW-Do you think they will maintain their livery now that West is gone?

Red Bull is buying Mclaren key people. Big, fat, juicy paychecks…
Newey – sold
Tombazis – sold
Dennis -

Where has Nicholas Tombazis gone?! Last I heard was that McLaren were denying the move.

People move around in racing, and most activity occurs in the off season. Williams lost Newey to McLaren, now he's going to Red Bull. This kind of stuff is common.
And of course, highly skilled, talented, and "key" personall are coveted by other teams. Ferrari lost a couple to Toyota, Now McLaren have a slight leak. And now that since Toyota, Honda, and Red Bull are starting to spend a lot of money, it's no surprise that "key" personnel are being lured to them by the challenge and money offered.
And since McLaren built last season's killer car, the people involved are coveted by others.

They have been running behind the facts since 2002 (and there were troubles even before that since the Berillium thing). A little comparison to Renault, who in the same period managed to build a 111° engine and now a top notch 90° V10.

As for McLaren... while rumours are never far away I don't really think they will miss Newey that much. Adrian simply made a smart move as he will be allowed to have much more influence at Red Bull (in fact he also has indirect influence to 2 teams).

I also think that Newey will be missed. And it's really a good choice to move to the Red Bull Team. We can expect a lot from Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso this season and the season's following

The Newey move is actually unsurprising, he was oh so close to moving to jaguar of all places! He was also thinking of designing yachts a while ago.

There is a reason why these people are so well payed, they can make a big difference, take gascoin and burne for example. With out them even MS cant do enough to win a race (indy does not count)
