BMW Motorsport and Virage Racing Academy have joined forces to offer young hopefuls the chance to compete in the German marque’s 2014 Talent Cup season.
Virage will select up to three scholarship candidates from those participating in the series’ pre-season test at Circuito de Cartagena on 1/2 February 2014, with the chosen drivers receiving €50,000 in prize money to put towards a 2014 Formula BMW Talent Cup assault. February’s test at the 3.419km Spanish venue will be the fifth since the 2013 campaign concluded in September.
In spring 2014 BMW’s esteemed training and racing programme will begin its fourth year by providing up-and-coming drivers with the skills required for a career in professional motorsport. Combining events at top European circuits with extensive theory modules, the series enshrines BMW’s holistic approach to motorsport education.
The 2014 season will see up to seven rounds held as support events to international race series, including a spot on the prestigious DTM bill. The top three drivers at the championship’s Grand Final will also receive prizes totalling €150,000.
What’s more, BMW will offer promising youngsters from across the globe the opportunity to join its junior programme, with Talent Cup participants now eligible to qualify for a further academy scheme beginning in 2015. This will allow them to benefit from BMW Motorsport’s extensive network and provide the best possible start to their racing careers.
