there has been much discussion about the need for such things as tyre and fuel strategy
but maybe there is a new gorilla in the F1 zoo , grid penalty strategy !
it will have escaped nobody's attention that , early in the season at least , the reliability of the cars is going to be uncertain at best [ I think there is a poll somewhere about how few cars will finish the first race ]..... and that is not going to magically change overnight
so it seems to me that , having learned a good deal about where their strengths and weaknesses lie , the teams should have started to calculate when it would be better to deliberately take a penalty for changing a component in order to lessen the chance of a DNF ...it may be a nice calculation but surely one that needs to be made
