Hey people, Amidst all the talks of Kimi being approached by Toyota, I would like to say that Kimi should make a move to Red Bull rather than a team like Toyota. True, that Toyota has rumoured budget of 700 million dollars but that does not matter in the long run. Red Bull is also spending like hell in new facilities and acquiring top class staff (newey et al). What will happen is that when cost cutting regulations are put into place in 2008, Toyota will not be able to spend money like that and what will matter then is the kind of staff you have. Money will not be an isue as I think all teams can get a 100 million dollars a year. As for McLaren, I think that it will gradually become like what we saw of BAR in 2005. What do you guys say?
Red Bull make their own chassis and buys engines that will never be as good as engines of team they buy from, so I say that at this point Toyota is the best team to go to if Renault isn't staying in F1 beyond 2006.
That is what Alonso should have done instead of going to Mclaren (with all key people leak and eternal problems with Mercedes engines).
In redbulls case, best engine goes to Schumi, next to Massa, then to Ferrari tester, and then Red Bull get what ever is left over, why would ferrari let a team beat them with the same engines. Ferrari gets the rules changes for them, so why they give red bull good engines
For sure it would make a lot of sense for Kimi to be looking at RedBull. They don't HAVE to have Ferrari engines for ever. All they need is a brilliant Newey chassis and a rock solid engine deal (VW/Cosworth??? - not a sensible suggestion but look outside the obvious ). That COULD make RedBull worth looking at...........but, there are others worth talking to - like Toyota
In three successive years Kimi has been close to winning the title, but fallen short. He is good, and wants the title NOW. Red Bull, no matter how rich the budget, won't be serious title contenders for at least two more years, on my estimate. Meanwhile, Toyota are very close to breaking out of mid-pack and becoming very serious race contenders. When you look at Red Bull vs Toyota based on who will win sooner, and be capable of taking a driver to the title, my vote falls with Toyota.
