Sad, he was quite a character.

Ironic how he survived all of those F1 shunts, and was done in by a motorcycle crash.

His speed was legendary, but he could never put it together for an entire race. Spa 1991 was the closest he came, chasing down Ayrton Senna in the Jordan 191 before the day ended.

RIP, you'll be missed.

De Cesaris probably made through a hundred crashes in F1, how ironic.

R.I.P. Andrea de Cesaris.

And I find it inappropriate to talk of irony when a man has just passed away.

Don't worry. It was actually coincidental, not ironic. So, we're good.

(Either way, it doesn't really change anything, yanno?)

Yeah, every rider must surely climb astride knowing the fates may determine that this day is his last living..
F1 is much safer than it used to be, but the attribute of being fearless.. ..often does not change..

M. Schumacher was also a keen rider, but going downhill fast on white powder caught him out..
J. Hunt went downhill fast on white powder too, but I heard his white powder of choice originated in the Andes..

As for the 'irony' police's comment of "inappropriate"..
..well, get this ..irony just is..
..& such a fatuous value judgement is.. ..wait for it.. inappropriate.. ..oh the irony..
..or were you being sarcastic Zeph?
I only ask.. ..since sarcasm is irony's wilfully rude cousin..
"Well, we knocked the bastard off!"

in good Kiwi style - riding a Massey Ferguson farm
tractor - with a few extemporised mod's to hack the task).
